I think there is some kind of rule that you can do what you want to when you publish your own website. I guess that is what is happening here. I rarely get around to making changes and additions to this page and it tells. Checking the stats, it may be that no one has ever looked at this site. Well, excluding those that I coerce into looking at it.
We are in Missouri after a nice winter in Florida. We got home about the first of May and have been very busy getting the yard and garden in shape. Greg tilled up our back yard and reseeded it for us and we are praying for rain. We have not had a real rain in over a month now. We are watering the grass and hoping for the best.
We are still healthier than you can expect when you are 88 years old. But we are happy and doing whatever we want to pretty much whenever we want to. We don't have any plans for the summer, no trips planned and no events scheduled.
Barb still has back and hip problems and fights it like a tiger. She still walks in the mornings and does all of her housework. We still ride the motorcycle when the weather is good, which it hasn't been lately, but we will get going one of these days.
We went to Pattie's in Grand River, KY for Barb's Birthday and had a nice time. Stayed in a bread and breakfast.

Of course it rained most of the time and we had to work around the rain. (That must have been before the draught.
I think that about brings us up to date on our coming and goings. Stay tuned, just 6 more months and I will post something else.

Another sweltering day in MO. We had so much rain we could hardly get outside. Now the rain is gone and we desperately need rain but seem to get none. The weather is as hot as I ever remember. Arount 100 degrees everyday. That makes it too hot to get outside except early in the morning and late in the evening. We are still walking but have to get up at 6:00 AM to beat the heat.
All of our kides and grandkids are doing fine. We haven't heard from Sydney and Christian, but that isn't unusual, we rarely heard from them when they were here.

We have managed to make it home to Missouri and to go from almost constant rain to near drought conditions and from cold weather to hotter than normal. The temp has been 100 -102 for several days and the prediction for this week is more of the same. Too damned hot for me but still better than too damned cold.
Barb managed to have the shower for Sydney and they got married and on their way to California. They got there with no trouble and are setting up their house. (Young love is great) [Old love ain't bad either].
So far, we don't have any plans for the summer except to try and stay cool and keep the grass mowed.
With prices going up like they are, (Gasoline is $4.59 right now), we just aren't sure what we should do and when or if we should do anything and just wait for this to blow over. However, when you get to be 87 years old, you can't wait too much longer.
Our current crises is the tomato plants. They are beautiful but have only one tiny tomato on one of the six plants. What to do?

Time does fly, here it is Feb of a new year and we are enjoying Florida like we do every winter. In the perhaps misguided hope that some of our children or grandchildren will come and see us, we are increasing the size of our addition so that we can have a bed there for whomever might come and see us.
So, Barb and I are just lazing around waiting for them to finish this. I am doing the electrical work but that isn't too much for a high stepper like me. This is only the second day of construction but we are ready for them to be through with it.
The weather here has been cool for about a month and of course, we are tired of it. We like to sit out on our porch and enjoy the nice warm weather and the sunshine that brings a smile to our faces.
Covid seems to be fading into a terrible nightmare. People are not getting as sick and very few people are now wearing masks. I wouldn't say that things are back to normal but getting there. We are ready for that too.

Another summer season has about come to an end for us. We are gearing up to head to Florida. The weather in Benton has been somewhat unusual. Temps have stayed higher than normal, it was in the 80s today.
We went to Bill's birthday party and had a really enjoyable visit with him and June. Since there were no local hotels that we could stay in, we booked a bed and breakfast. The first thing they told us was that this Bed and Breakfast didn't serve breakfast. That should have been a red flag but it wasn't. This turned out to be the most cluttered and outlandish home we had ever been in. The private bathroom was located in the bedroom with no walls or doors for privacy. There was a bathtub with a hand shower but no shower curtain. It was an adventure.
Barb got a summons for jury duty today and would you believe, based on her advanced age, she was excused. It was too bad that she had to admit her age in order to get out of it......
David was here for a week and we really enjoyed visiting with him. He got home safely and we are thankful for that.
Barb has an appointment with her cardiologist for a check up on Wednesday but we are both pretty healthy for such old folks. This month we will celebrate our 65th wedding anniversary.
Jana's Mother passed away and we attended the graveside service in Charleston.

Summer is here with a vengeance. It has been so hot here, almost every day is a 2 shower day.
We are already thinking about going to Florida. It is only about 5 or 6 weeks away. I have spent most of the last month working on building a ham shack. I had a nice shed for the motorcycle and while complaining about it being too hot in the garage to operate my radios, Barb said, "Why don't you take the motorcycle shed and turn it into a ham shack." I said, "Great idea." And that is the story about what I have been doing all summer, almost. It is about finished though and I might get to move in this weekend.
We had an opportunity to go to Virginia and see our Great Granddaughters. It was a trip well worth it. They are the most wonderful little girls that you could imagine. We got to spend all weekend with them and enjoyed every minute of it. We now have 3 great granddaughters and another on the way. (This one might be a boy) Anna Claire and Joe are expecting.
My brother, Bill, is going to celebrate his 80th birthday next month and the kids are throwing him a party and we are going. David is coming home and he is going with us.

Shades of January, the high today is 64, so far. It has rained most of the day and doesn't look like it will let up.
Well, we got home from Florida about the first of May and got right to work. We finally got both of our Corona Virus shots before we left Florida, so we have been a little more free with our movements. We now go to Church, go out to eat and just about anything else that we want to do .
There is always yard work to be done and we are always doing something with that, either mowing or edging or weeding the flower beds, or if you can believe, planting garden things. Tomatoes, squash, peppers and we don't have a place for a garden, so we plant in the flower beds. Actually, the flowers don't seem to mind. We have a nice crop of blueberries and the blackberry crop looks really good. So, while we are no longer farmers, we will still have something to eat if the world goes bad on us.
David came to visit about 2 weeks after we got home from Florida. He stayed for almost a week. He wanted to clean out the storage shed they have in Marion. They have been paying on it for 15 years and just thought it was time to clean it out. He drove his van so that he could carry the stuff back home. Nice thought but a bad plan. He didn't have enough room for all of it so, he is still paying for that storage shed. We had a nice visit and always enjoy David when he comes home.
Shortly after David left, Cindy and Bill, Joe, Anna Claire, and Daniela came to visit. We really enjoyed their visit but poor little Daniela was sick for a good bit of the time that they were here. But she was an absolute joy and surprisingly happy and active to be sick like she was.
So now everyone has gone and me and Mom are all alone wearing out the computers because it is raining and we can't get outside to do anything.

It looks as though most of the winter has come and gone. Well, gone for the most part anyway. We had about 3 weeks of cool weather and now it has begun to warm up. Some days it is 85 degrees and the next it will be 65. But, we love it. (mostly)
I have been suffering with internet problems for the last two weeks. The internet will run perfectly and then it will just drop out for a while and then come back. There have been two technicians here and both times it worked fine. They probably think I am nuts but I am still hollering to get it fixed.
We are still walking in the mornings, 5 days a week. Barb does about 2 miles and I do about 2.5 miles 5 days a week. I think that keeps us healthy. We are still trying to dodge the corona virus. We don't go out much and try to be very careful when we do go out. We have been trying to get an appointment for the shots since they began offering the shots to old folks. Some folks come down and pick up the phone and get an appointment and we have about worn out the phone and still don't have an appointment.
Barb's brother Ron passed away in January and just this past Sunday, Ron's daughter, Jennifer had a massive heart attack and died. You just never know.

Well, the virus still is keeping everything on hold. We came to Florida the first of October and have pretty much sat tight since we got here. We go to WalMart and once in a while we eat out but we make sure we wear masks in and out and sit at tables away from others.
We normally go home for the month of December and Christmas. But because of the virus and the location of the kids and grandkids, we just thought it would be better for all concerned if we just stayed here. The kids all said that they thought that was the best idea for all concerned. So, we just stayed here and got our presents under the neat little tree that Barb put up on the porch.
We have ridden the motorcycle a couple of times but the weather has been so cold for the last couple of months that we have just kept it covered up.. We like to pick strawberries and not only enjoy ourselves but Barb likes to pass them out to neighbors. Unfortunately, we have only been able to pick them one time. We have made 3 attempts to pick since then and they either don't have any berries or they are not open.

Wow! Someone said that as you get older the days go much slower and the weeks and months go much faster.
from my perspective, that is certainly true. We sit around looking for something to do and suddenly it is a week later. Here it is already the end of August. Of course we are still looking for something to do. You can only buy so many groceries.
I have had my second cataract surgery and Barb has an appointment to get her eyelids operated on. She has a great deal of trouble reading and we think her droopy eyelids contribute to it. (The doctors have told her that also) She had scheduled the operation for last year but something came up and she didn't get it but now they will do it Sept 11, 2020. Most of us old folks have nothing to talk about except our doctors and our health, but we do have that. Heck, we are only 85, if this darned virus would get out of our way, we would be doing lots of things and going lots of places. We still plan to go to Florida. We can isolate there in the warm weather as well as here in the cold........

Back home again in Missouri. We got home about the middle of May. We didn't want to stop on the way home but the kids bugged us and acted like they thought the old man couldn't take the stress. So we stopped at the motel we always stop at. Sharon was with us and there was a truck driver there. So, they had 3 rooms rented that night.
The excitement is mind blowing! We are excited. We had something to do today. We were able to go to St. Denis' Parish Center and Vote. We did, we voted for all of the right people. Now we just hope all of the other folks were as smart as us and voted properly.
We have pretty much taken up the Hermit life style. We don't go very many places, mostly to Walmart and Aldi's. I have had my cataract, in one eye, taken care of and the other scheduled for the end of this month. Tomorrow I have a dentist appointment. why does this seem like entertainment? Well, when you have done very little for entertainment, like we have, you take anything that comes along. We started out for a motorcycle ride a few days ago and about 10 miles into it, a big black rain cloud came up right where we were going so we passed on that and came back home.
Before we came home Greg and Diane cleaned all of Barb's flower beds and planted 8 tomato plants along side the garage. Greg and Barb always try to out do the other with the earliest or the biggest or the best tomatoes. This year they are at it again but we both have plenty of really nice tomatoes. The yard looks pretty good and I try to mow it twice a week now. With this big, 61" mower it takes about 15 minutes to mow it and another 45 minutes to weed eat and edge so it isn't a big deal like the 3 acres of mowing was.
But I am not complaining, we are healthy and don't have the virus nor have we been around anyone who has had it. (As far as we know.) We have both had our 85th Birthday this year and that is quite an accomplishment. So, no complaints from us.
I am stocking up on ammunition and scouring the internet for an AR-15 for the upcoming battle. However, I don't think there will be too much of a problem in the rural areas. We know about responsibility and ethics and conduct ourselves accordingly. We allow everyone to have and express their opinion and to demonstrate peacefully but if your views try to restrict mine, that is where it gets messy.

Well, here we are, still in Bowling Green, hiding from the Virus. We have felt pretty secure here in our little community. The entire county has had only 1 case of the virus until recently. We now have 9 cases, no deaths and 7 cases are local people and 2 are snowbirds (I think).
We do our walking, read a lot and live on the internet most of the day and then in the evening we watch TV. We still play cards with Sharon and Dana (neighbor who has been with us forever). But that is the extent of our recreation. We go to the grocery store about once a week and buy enough for the next week.
Now we need to start letting our supply of food decrease. We plan to head home on May 8th. It will be a long trip because we are going to do it non stop. Well maybe not non stop but without stopping for the night anyplace. We just don't trust the cleanliness of any of the motels.

Well, we are still here in good old Bowling Green, FL. Fortunately, Hardee ?County only has 2 cases of the virus, as far as we know. I think they are still showing only one case officially.
We are doing OK. We still get up and walk in the mornings, and after that sit pretty close to home. We still have happy hour every afternoon where anywhere from 2 to 4 of the same people come and visit with us for about an hour. Sometimes we jump on the motorcycle and go for a ride on the backroads, of which there are plenty.
Everything here is still on lockdown except for the essentials, groceries, gas and the likes. Most of the restaurants still have take out service but that was never a very high priority in my life. We do miss being able to go out and eat or go for an ice cream. But if we survive this without getting sick it will certainly be worth it.

Things have changed somewhat this spring. The Coronavirus has screwed up most things in the country. Fortunately for us, the changes have not been too drastic or too confining. We still walk in the morning and do pretty much whatever we want in the park. Of course, there are no activities and no gatherings. We still have happy hour on our porch and 2 to 5 people come most every day.
I suppose our grocery situation is much like everyone elses, we can find pretty much what we need except toilet paper and cleaning supplies. Wal-Mart and Wynn Dixie are our grocery stores and while Wal-Mart has many empty shelves, Wynn Dixie has only a few empty.
We still plan to go back to Missouri at the regular time but if it turns out that it is not a good time to travel, we can stay here forever, safe and sound.

We still plan to go back to Missouri at the regular time but if it turns out that it is not a good time to travel, we can stay here forever, safe and sound.

We have had some really nice weather the last few weeks but all of that is about to change. Lows in the 40s and high in the 50s for the next 4 days. But I'll bet we will survive and be back to riding the motorcycle before you know it. Spring will be here before we know it and soon after that, we will be thinking of returning to Missouri. It is hard to believe that we survived all of that cold weather, snow, ice and rain for so many years when we could have (probably not) been in sunny Florida.

We think it is winter time in Florida. January is the coldest month of the year and it is living up to its reputation. It was 53 this morning and fortunately we didn't have the opportunity to walk. Barb had an eye appointment this morning and we skipped walking so that we could make the appointment and get back for the corporate meeting this afternoon.
We are like so many other creatures, when it gets cold, we get sluggish and don't do a lot. We have pretty well close in the house since it has turned cold. Actually it generally warms up around 3 or 4 in the afternoon to the daily high which is around 70 degrees. We are able to have "Happy Hour" on our porch most of the time.
There are still motorcycle rides to go on. Barb likes to go when it is warm and doesn't care at all for the cool weather riding. The Goldwing isn't too cold for me, since I have the windshield and some vents that blow warm air over the engine, through the fairing, We do have heated seats and grips but I don't find them to be of much use.

It is a cold, wintery time of the year and as we sit here awaiting the arrival of good old Santa Clause, we are reminded of why we hate cold weather. "Cause it is COLD.!
But we are very fortunate to have a nice warm house and lots of warm clothing to keep old man winter in his place. David will be here next week and Cindy, Bill, Joe, Anna Clair and of course Daniela will all be here the week of Christmas.
We have pretty much got all of our Doctor appointments under control and we will be able to focus mostly on Christmas and our guests.
I just read the post below here and I am complaining about the heat sure looks like there could be a place for compromise and we could be satisfied with the weather year around. (Yeah Right)

How very strange it is, that it appears to be fall all over the country, except Florida. We have been here since the first of October and it has been 90 or above everyday since we got here. Maybe we should start to stay in Missouri later in the year.
Today we got the floors vacuumed and moped and the edging outside done.. Guess we are ready for lunch!! Then we will have to figure out what we are going to do this afternoon. Should we go to Frostproof on the motorcycle for ice cream, or should we take a ride around the park in the golf cart to see what other folks are doing, or we could take a ride in the truck and go buy something, Life is really good in Paradise.

What a summer, it is almost over before it got started. We are doing well. We have had some medical problems/scares. I started having chest pains when I walked in the mornings. Thought I should have it checked out and when I tried to make an appointment with the VA doctor, they said go directly to the emergency room. I did and they ran all kind of test and found nothing but made an appointment with a cardiologist. They ran all kind of tests and found nothing. The doctor gave me Metropolo pills and the chest discomfort got better.
Barb has had an eye operation scheduled for about a year and today is the day that is happening. Before we left Florida, the cardiologist there suggested that she get a cardiologist in Missouri just as a precaution. She did and they had to run all kinds of test here so that they would know what is going on with her heart.
Other than that!!!! I traded the Jeep in on a new Ram 1500 pickup. It has almost all of the bells and whistles on it and if Flame Red. It is a Laramie and it is one step below the top of the line. We drove it to Virginia and loved it. Got 23 MPG with a 4 wheel drive and a hemi.
We did get to go to Virginia and see our great-great Granddaughter and from there went to Georgia to see our other (Joe and Anna Clair's) great-great Granddaughter. We are about ready to go again and we have another great granddaughter (Tom and Mary's) to visit. That is 3 and holding.

SPRING?
Posted on April 2, 2019 by harryswright
As the rain begins in earnest and the snow begins to slowly disappear, winter jackets are traded for heavy sweaters, that long awaited event begins to appear. By George, I think spring is on the way.
Of course, if you are lucky enough to spend the winters in Florida, spring only means that the rainy season is moving in. The winds begin to shift to a more Southerly origin and you have to run the air conditioner a little more.
What does all of this mean? Well, it means that all of us who have enjoyed the warmth of Florida have to begin to head North. Bummer! But the grass needs mowing and the flower beds need weeding and the whole house has to be cleaned (doesn’t seem logical since it was thoroughly cleaned right before we left). It also means fighting traffic on I-75 and struggling to find just the right place for lunch and then to find the right motel for the night. But we snowbirds will survive.
Our friends have all gone and our Florida home is so quiet you thing everyone has gone, but there are lots of hearty souls who spend summer and winter here. They must be the quiet ones.
We have enjoyed a really nice winter. The weather was mild, not too much rain and NO Hurricanes. We had the opportunity to ride the motorcycle with lots of others and to experience lots of new places to eat. (that is what motorcycle riders do mostly).

Here it is Spring, at least that is what the calendar says.
Actually, I think we can accept the calendars declaration, because the weather is pretty fine today. Temp going to be 75 or so and lots of sunshine.
Today, I am going for a motorcycle ride with the group. We are going to Bradenton for lunch. Barb isn't going and she doesn't want me to reveal the reason, but she will be sorry because I'll bet we have something good to eat.
Yesterday, we went to Lowes and got the new floor laminate for the office area here. This summer the gutter stopped up and water came down the walls and kinda' messed up the floor. So we are replacing the floor with some new vinyl product that is supposed to be waterproof and cushioned. We will see. George, our friend and next door neighbor is going to replace it for us this summer.
Time is growing short here in Florida and people are leaving to head home to the cold weather. Our little corner here is about deserted.
Back after about 150 miles round trip to Bradenton. Nice ride but was not too impressed with the restaurant.

Seems like it gets harder and harder to update this page. Maybe it is because we are in a rut. It does seem like we pretty much do the same thing everyday.
But, we are in Florida, the weather has been great. It hasn't even snowed one time since we have been here.
Our friends for about 11 years, who lived across the street from us, sold their house and went back to PA. It was quite a shock to us and we surely hated to see them go. But when you get as old as we and they are, you just have to do what you want to do for the rest of your life. We will miss them but life goes on.
We had a problem with the gutters on our house causing a leak when they stopped up (with a tree growing in the downspout). So today I put about 30 feet of FlexSeal tape in the gutter where we think the problem is and right on schedule, God turned on the water to see if it leaked. So Far, so good.
Barb is doing very well, getting a little horsey once in a while but, I mean physically she is doing well. We both get a little more tired than in years past, but over all we are doing very well. We still ride the motorcycle whenever the opportunity comes along. We still walk 2 or 3 miles every morning, 5 days God has blessed us beyond all of our wildest dreams.

Have we ever been busy!
Back in November of 2017 Barb found the source of her Acid Re flux that she had been doctoring for, for about 10 years. It wasn't acid reflux at all, it was heart trouble. So she had a stent put in and things didn't get much better. We came home for Christmas and she didn't do much to exert herself.
We had a nice time at Christmas and returned to paradise on Dec 31 and on Jan 5 Barb had a heart attack. We got her to the hospital and they put two by-passes in and about 8 weeks later she was doing fine and by now is pretty much healed.
Kevin Graduated yesterday and now is Dr. Kevin. We went to St. louis for his graduation. Greg and Diane, Derek and Tiff, went with Barb and I in our van. We had a nice time, got some good pictures and had a great meal.
Today, was Derek's turn. He graduated from SEMO. We went to the Show Me Center for the ceremony. I think there were about 1400 people graduating. Derek graduated cum laude. now he will go on to Arkansas State for his masters degree. Can you believe, another great meal a Logan's.
And, tomorrow is Mother's Day. We probably won't eat any more.......
Do you hear what I hear?
I hear the sound of ice crinkling as I walk along, I hear the trees moan as their limbs creak when the wind blows their ice laden limbs. I hear the sound of heaters running, cars left idling with heaters running while folks run in for a gallon of milk. Yes, it is true, winter has arrived and with a vengeance. It seems as though she really doesn't like me very much. Why else would she rain, and snow, and blow and freeze me with an unrelenting frenzy? It can't be love.
On the bright side, I think we are coming closer to Christmas and that means the big fat man will be sliding down our chimney with loads of toys and all of the neat things that we have asked for and worked so hard to be good for. At our house we put great stock in FOOD, Food and food, and lots of it. We have a dinner for extended families, we have dinner for church families, we have dinner, and dinner for close family folks. Heck. we will even have a dinner sometimes for breakfast. But when you get old, about the only thing left to do that gives you satisfaction, is EAT. So we will, and we will stay inside and keep warm, thermostat at about 85 degrees.
But we will also take time to go to Church as we remember all of the things that God has given us and all of the promises He has made, if we will only follow a few simple rules. We remember why we celebrate Christmas and what it really means.
Oh, Oh, I think I hear sleigh bells and I had better run and jump in bed so that Santa will think I am asleep when he brings my new motorcycle and puts it under the tree........Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Night.

Fussing at the Losers (Again/Still)
The way I understand democracies, is that prior to the elections you present your case and those that think you have the best ideas, vote for you. Those who don’t have the most popular ideas lose and immediately start planning how they will have better ideas and get ready to present them the next election cycle. The supporters of the losers lick their wounds, gripe a little and then get on with the business of their world and the country’s.
Doesn’t seem to work that way in the U.S. anymore. I have seen more elections than most people in the U.S. (just because I am older than most people in the US), and it use to work pretty much that way. The losers in the past presidential election do not seem to be able to accept the fact that their candidate lost. Nor can they accept the fact that someone without their liberal, progressive views could possibly govern this country. It is OK that they don’t like it or that they want to change it the next election, but they really should relax and comply with the law of the land which says that even if you lose, you have to accept the will of the majority of the people.
All of the news media is consumed with the accusations being made against President Trump. Accusations ! Leaks! Rumors! I don’t even understand how you can have an investigation or an accusation unless some crime or transgression has occurred. We have hired a high priced attorney as a special prosecutor and he is expected to hire some 50 more high priced attorneys to investigate whether or not anything has occurred that might be prosecuted. How dumb is that? If a crime has been committed, of course we should pursue, investigate, and charge. But to make a career out of looking to see if a crime has been committed without a reason to look, other than leaks and rumors, seems like shooting an arrow into the air and expecting it to land back on earth on the target. If you shoot enough arrows into the air, eventually one will. How many arrows can we afford to shoot?
How can we accept so many accusations without any facts? No matter how much the liberal press wants to change the power structure in this country, how can they just print everything someone says, so long as it is bad about the current administration? The liberal press no longer has any credibility. In my opinion, the first order of business would be to find the LEAKERS and punish them as traitors to the administration. After all of the leaks have been plugged maybe there would not be more unfounded accusations.
Will those on the Right and the conservatives ever stand up and fight for what they think is right? Probably not. The left gets more and more aggressive and progressive and the right sits idly by and let it happen. As the left gets more aggressive, they inspire riots, looting, boycotts of anyone with a viewpoint different than theirs. What is the definition of Anarchy? “A state of disorder due to absence or nonrecognition of authority.” That sounds like the left, if there were any authority to not recognize. It seems like laws are to be broken, vows ignored, ethics dumped, and morals something to be viewed with disdain.

What Screwy Weather
When folks run out of something to talk about, it always turns to the weather. Naturally I have many more things to talk about but hate to slight the weather..
But since we have been home, we have had to work around the weather and it has been challenging. We have had more than enough rain and it looks like more is headed this way this week end. We are hoping that it is all over with by Sunday, because it is Barb's Birthday and we have tickets to a Cardinal ball game.
I have decided that it would really be nice to sell this place and move into something that doesn't require so much work. We have spent almost every free moment since we have been home from Florida, working and fixing and cleaning. I am getting old and tired, at least I am getting tired.

A fine ride for fine food
Saturday May 13, 2017 was a fine day. Weather was almost perfect, (a little cool first thing in the morning), but it was a good day for an RTE (Ride To Eat).
I left here about 9:15 and met the GWRRA group at the Mississippi River bridge in Cape Girardeau and we crossed into Il. I have lived here for 43 years and thought I knew the area pretty well. Wrong, I know nothing. We took back roads to places that I didn't know existed. It was 60 miles to Murphysboro, IL and it took us 92 miles of riding to get there. But it was fun and the food at 17th St Bar-b-que was excellent.

An Open Letter to All of Our Elected Officials
We, the insignificant electorate, hired you to do the country’s business. We thought that you would consider all of the needs of the country and your constituents. This is a very large country and there are many problems to be solved and we picked you because you promised to do what is best for the country and for us.
But wait, after we hired you, at a very good salary, I might add, and benefits that the rest of us could only dream of, you forgot everything you learned from your parents (you know, how to be honest, kind, and truthful), and the great lessons you learned in grade and high school (you know, the history of the great sacrifices made by so many, that we might have this great country and democracy) and everything you learned in college (well, maybe I have gone a bit too far here based on the current liberal, left, progressive agenda being force fed to our students, you may have retained some of that training).
I digress, regardless of your political leanings, you were hired to work and govern this country. You have failed to even make an effort in this direction. You and your colleagues, regardless of political affiliation, bicker and argue worse than junior high students. The facts is, the election is over and now is the time to come together and earn your money. If you don’t like the way the country is being run, YOU are the one who can change it. If you don’t like a law, change it, but until you do, uphold the enforcement of that law.
Republicans, I am ashamed of you. The only way conservatives can govern is if all of you come together and support the people WE (remember us, the people who hired you?) elected. Get off your can and get to work. We, the people, also know the phrase, “You are fired” and on election day, we won’t be afraid to use it. What can we lose, anyone we elect can do NOTHING, just like you. (maybe I will run for office, I am experienced at doing nothing and I would really like a prestigious position with lots of money)
Democrats, you are worse than the Republicans. All of this finger pointing and bashing. The election is over and you lost. Accept it and move on. There is much to be done and I hope you will present a different view of all new laws and regulations and that you and your Republican friends can compromise and find common ground which is the system the founding fathers established. You too, are still on the payroll and I for one would like to know what you have accomplished since the first of the year to earn the outrageous salary we are paying you.

You too, are still on the payroll and I for one would like to know what you have accomplished since the first of the year to earn the outrageous salary we are paying you.
From one complaint to another
Here it is May 4th and today when I was outside working, I could see my breath. The wind is blowing, it is raining and the temp is somewhere around 50 right now.
Floods are rampant all over Southeast Missouri. I-55 was closed at Arnold for a while but is back open now. They are forcasting 30 mile an hour winds tonight and into tomorrow. Guess that kinda' puts the kibosh on the motorcycle ride.
There has to be something wrong with people who would leave the beautiful warm and dry of Florida for this weather. In all honesty, it got really hot, (95 degrees) and was still very dry, and I would expect that it is still something like that. So, the weather can be a pain where ever you are.

Can you believe how time flys? It is already December and we are home in Missouri enjoying the cool weather. (Do you detect a little bit of sarcasem there? We came home for Kevin and Brianna's wedding on the 26th and so came a couple of days early for Thanksgiving. We enjoyed Thanksgiving with Mike and Donna and then had a really nice rehearsal dinner. Then Saturday, we got Kevin and Brianna married up and headed off to Jackson for a super nice reception where once again we ate too much drank quite enough and enjoyed family and friends a lot.
David came in Wednesday before the wedding and Cindy and Bill came in on Friday so we were all here for the wedding. Cindy and Bill had to go back home on Sunday morning so they could be at work on Monday. It was all a whirlwind weekend but it all came off without a hitch. David stayed until Wednesday and he took off very early in the morning for home.
We have been taking care of all of the doctor and dentist appointments that come due in December and I think most of them are done. Barb has been going to the Chiropractor weekly in an attempt to stay ahead of her back and hip problem. So far it seems to be working. Christmas tree and decorations are up and we are eagerly awaiting Santa Clause's arrival.

Early in the spring we decided that we wanted an newer and bigger park model, so, we checked them all out and made a decision. Ordered what we wanted and specified delivery on Oct 15.
We came down early so that we would be here when it arrived. Well, there was this nasty hurricane and several other excuses and the delivery date slipped until the 20th of Oct, then the 25th and it looks like it will be here on the 25th. It will take about 3 days to get it set up and livable. Then we are going to add an awning, screened porch and another room to it. It does look like it is all coming together.
Here is what it looks like now.

Today was supposed to be the best day of the week for being outside. Could be, but if so, the rest of the week is going to be a dozy.
Barb and I walked this morning and Barb got the washing taken care of and we climbed on the motorcycle and rode to Marble Hill to Jay's for some really good pork steaks. We had a lot to eat so we brought some home for later. We are looking for fairer weather so that we can ride more and eat more...........

My, my, things are just clicking along here in Southeast Missouri. The sun is shining, keeping all of us and our belongings nice and warm. Actually it is hotter than hell...... Today was supposed to be a cooler day. Well guess what, it didn't make it. It has been too hot to do most anything after about 8:00 AM and before 8:00PM. So we just stay in where it is air conditioned and try to keep cool and keep our cool.
If you think you have heard this rant about the weather before, just look at the last post. I could have just copied and pasted it here. Well, what the heck, you absolutely have to have something to gripe about.
We are already thinking about Florida and our new Park Model. It is supposed to be delivered on Oct 15, and we plan to be down there by the 1st of Oct so that we can be there when it happens. There is a lot to do. It comes with NO furniture so the first thing we have to buy is a bed and a table and chairs and a couch and I'll bet a lot of other things too. We plan to add a porch and a room as soon as we can. Hopefully they will build that while we are home for Kevin and Brianna's wedding and Christmas. We haven't had any real interest in our park model that we have for sale. Maybe when we get down there, someone will show some interest. If we don't sell it, we will rent it, if we can.
Joe and Anna Clair are planning to come home this summer, some time and we are looking forward to visiting with them. We haven't seen them in some time. We did see Joe at Christmas time but AC went to visit her parents. But they have promised to come to Missouri to see the old folks. We will enjoy that.
I am going to add a contact box at the top of the page, so if you would like to share or gripe just click the box and let me know about it.

It has been far too long since I have produced words of wisdom on this page so will get right to it. (Words will come easy and fast but the wisdom may suffer just a bit, but stay tuned)
The weather in Benton has just been unbearable. 96 to 98 degrees with the heat index hitting 118, just makes it a killer. It is really hard to get outside and do anything. So we spend a lot of time inside under the air conditioner, messing with the computer......
Kevin got his white coat in a ceremony in St. Louis and we were able to go up for that and a nice dinner in St. Charles with Kevin, Brianna, Derek and Tiffany, and of course Greg and Diane.
Even though summer came upon us with a vengeance, we have had a good year so far. Cindy came to visit us for a week and I think she enjoyed her stay. While she was here, we went to Greg and Diane's Lake house and took a boat ride, ate some really good food and spent the night. Brianna and Kevin had an "I do Bar-b-Que" in St. Louis and Cindy was able to go with us for that.
Barb loves her garden and so we planted a very small garden with two pepper plants, two tomato plants, two cucumbers, two squash and lots of onions. It is a really small garden by normal standards but Barb takes care of it like it was her baby. So far we have had squash and onions out of it and look forwards to lots of tomatoes.

And now, comes the results of planting, cutting, lifting, picking up rocks, putting down straw, and on and on, it is time to see just how it all paid off....... The grass grew, in places, in others, it didn't. But every place there is a clump of grass, and that seems to be the way it grew, there is a bump to shake my back up when I mow. It seems that I have planted and grown a field of bumps.
We spent Easter in Miami with Robert's Mother, David and Mary Ann and Robert and Sheila. We had a great time rubbing elbows with high society.
Let's see now, since the last entry we have spent the winter in Florida, come back for Christmas and home in April. Lots of things going on since we have been home. Kevin got his white coat, Conner graduated from high school, Kevin and Brianna are engaged.
Barb is still going to the Chiropractor and doing really well. She still has a lot of problems trying to sleep because of the hurting in her hips but overall, we are thrilled with her progress.
Today we had one of the hardest rains I have ever seen. It rained 2.5 inches in a couple of hours. Washed out the front driveway and got everything really soggy.
Had to replace the battery in the tractor and a day later, the battery in the Honda trike gave out. But all fixed now. I wanted to go to the coffee break Saturday for Memorial day but it looks like it is going to still be raining. People enjoy getting a cup of coffee and a cookie and looking at our bikes and visiting a little before heading out on the highway again.

I did get the grass planted!
But will it grow? Who knows. I raked rocks and chunks and smoothed with a rake as best as I could and then planted about 6 or 7 lbs of grass seed. Mike brought me 4 bales of straw and I used three of them on the grass. Then set up a sprinkler with about 200 feet of hose and started watering. Watered for 6 days and now waiting for the grass to jump up. Boy did I pay for the effort. 80 year old men shouldn't work so hard. My shoulders ached for a week. But better now.
I am still working on our history but it seems like it gets harder to do every day. Must get on it so that our legacy will be preserved for generations to come.
Barb and I are going to jump on the bike and go for a hamburger today. Looks like the weather is going to put a stop to this nonsense pretty soon. Frost by the weekend.

We be gettin' ready to head to Florida. It is hard to believe but the cold weather just dove in on us all of a sudden. High 40s in the mornings and highs in the 60s. Seems to me that it is a clear sign to head South.
We have made our contribution to Lambert's this week. We went with Mike and Donna on Wednesday and Thursday was Derek's birthday and Greg ask us to go with them. So........not only did we eat too much two nights in a row but we brought enough home for supper the next day, both times. Oh well, when you get old one of your main pleasures in life is eating, and we certainly do enough of that.
It is so cold here that it is too cold to ride the motorcycle. Now you know for sure that it is cold. Actually this is a perfect time for me to try out my heated seat and heated grips, with heaters for my feet. Shucks, I may have to get snow tires.
Probably about 100 years ago, there was a house here on our place, owned by a doctor and he had a concrete sidewalk all the way from his front door down to the city sidewalk. All together, it was about 800ft of concrete. It has always bugged me and I have taken some of it out, but a few days ago I got serious about it and took out about 75 ft and smoothed the ground. Of course you know what comes next. Bought grass seed got some straw and rigged a barrel to haul water. Now as soon as it dries a bit more, I will have to plant grass, probably tomorrow.

August, Neighbor Day, and maybe the hot weather have come and gone. Today it was 94, I think and tomorrow will be 92 and it is down hill from there.
We didn't do much for Neighbor Day. We helped Mike and Donna put sticks in 1,000 snicker bars and Saturday morning Barb rode the Legion Float and I rode my Motorcycle in the parade.
We spent a lot of years working there. A lot of years ago, we used to run the talent show. In fact we did it for nine years. After that we helped with various things, the Funnel Cake stand took a lot of time. I guess we worked there from the time we got there until a few years ago. But we are old and lazy and just can't get excited about all of the food, drink and music. We did go over Friday night and Barb had a funnel cake and I had a beer. We visited quite a bit with Rick and Scarlett and Debbie Curry. We listened to the music for a while but had to hurry home before Barb turned into a witch.

It was only last evening when we returned from our cruise that we could finally relax. But it was a really nice cruise, the water was smooth, for the most part, the scenery was unbelievable and as all cruises are, way too much to eat.
Here is Barb, standing by till we cast off on our adventure.
We were able to see sights that we had never before seen, cliffs a hundred feet or so, high above the water with houses perched at what I would consider mighty close to the edge. At times we were close enough to shore to see cars zinging by on the highway, just feet from the water's edge.

Of course there was the preparation Days of packing, deciding what clothes to wear, medications to be taken, cameras, binoculars, and all of that neat stuff that one has to consider before embarking on a cruise of this magnitude.
But we did it and we enjoyed our trip from St. Louis to Grafton, IL aboard the paddle wheeler "Spirit of Peoria River Boat." And, we got home the same day we left. Amazing!
Check out some more Photos on the "Photos of interest page.

Weight Gain Philosophy
For a long time Barb and I have studied the reasons for weight gain and the numerous diets to loose the weight. Since it has been such an ever present concern, I thought that it would be a good idea to provide some of the details of a typical few days so that you can see how we are progressing.
On Thursday, we went to Mike and Donna's for dinner of Chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, with all of the trimmings. Friday we went to Brenda and Harlen's and had about 5 different kinds of meat, mashed potatoes, gravy and several desserts. Saturday evening we had the same group here for pork steaks and all of the trimmings. Sunday morning we had breakfast at the restaurant and came home for a snack of cake and coffee.
I just can't understand why we don't loose weight, we are certainly paying attention to what we eat.

Fun Run 2015
What in the world is a Fun Run, you ask? Gold Wing Road Riders Association group is a world wide group of people who ride Gold Wings and have joined together for doing Motorcycle related fun things. We go in groups and ride to different places to eat, (we do a lot of that); we are involved in many Community action type of programs to help the less fortunate and did I mention we ride a lot and eat a lot?
At Christmas time, our local Chapter, Chapter I, provides food baskets to 12 needy families. We try to give each family about 5 days worth of good wholesome food over the Christmas Holidays. This is where Fun Run comes into the picture.
Fun Run is how we raise the money to pay for the food baskets. We have a gathering at Cape County Park and invite other Chapters to join us. We charge an entry fee and provide lunch, lots of games, prizes and much visitation. This year was really great, we had a good representation from our group and lots of visitors too.

It is kind of an old story
Would you believe, this old man has eased up on the 80th year of his birth?
Wow, has life ever been good to me! A wonderful wife and family and all of these years to enjoy them. I am truly blessed.
Even tho we long ago agreed that we would no longer buy each other birthday presents, Barb got me a rain suit to wear on the motorcycle. I appreciate that and I have been looking forward to a trip to Outback Steak House. We normally pick a place to go for dinner on our birthday. Barb likes Red Lobster and I like almost any steak place, but Outback best.
Today is the first day that the weather has turned even a little bit nicer, humidity is down so it will feel cooler and I have the whole day to do whatever I want. It won't include motorcycle riding because the bike is in the shop, for at least today. Whatever can I do? Bet I can come up with something neat.

WANDERING MATE RETURNS
After days of bachelor life, I decided that I don't like it much. Barb went to Branson with her sisters and Donna. They did all of the tourist things like shows, eating and of course playing cards. It is hard to understand why you would drive 300 miles to play cards when you could do it here on the dining room table, but then, there are many things that I don't understand about the female brain. But then, it should be up to her to tell all of the details, so I will devote the remainder of this post to the great time that I had while free to pursue Guy things.
Bill and June left early Monday Morning and shortly after Peg came and picked Barb up and they headed for Girl fun and games. Now lookie here, I am free to do all of the things I want to do. Computer, Roku, newspaper, and trying to stay dry. (Rained and Rained some more). After 60 years of cuddling in bed, it is a little tough to go to sleep alone, but I made it and then the storms came.
Tuesday morning I got up walked and got the Trike out. It wasn't even raining. Since I have had the trike, it has sounded like something in the rear end was amiss. After a nice ride to Poplar Bluff, and the dealer where I bought it, I found that there is nothing wrong with the trike, so we are good to go. Boy am I ready to GO.
I was able to eat whatever I wanted every day. You know, left overs microwaved, left overs cold, left overs sauteed, left overs left over. But I survived.
She is home and I am certainly thankful for that.....

What a great day!
Our Children really outdid themselves. We had a great party with more friends and relatives than we knew we had. About 80 people attended. We laughed, talked, drank, and of course, ate way too much. Not only did our children perform spectacularly, but so did their spouses and children. We are so blessed and so thankful for our family and all of the friends who showed up to help us celebrate.
We have a very special group of friends from out winter home in Florida, and they really went all out to help make this special for us.

A new day dawns......... We are looking forward to this weekend when the kids have planned a Birthday party for Barb and I. Dare I say, "an 80th birthday party?"
It is mind boggling in several ways; first of all we have managed to live this long and secondly that we have so many friends and relatives that are planning to attend. It really is humbling.
Good news on the medical front. Of course you know that Acupuncturists and Chiropractors don't really work. But this one does. Barb gets stuck with needles and has her back twisted once a week and she is doing wonderful. Not cured by any stretch of imagination, but so much better. She still is pretty limited in how long she can stand, but she has been able to walk about 6 blocks with only slight pain. We are thankful. The Acupuncturists says that this is not a cure and that she will have to do this forever, but we are hoping that it will get her through the summer and we will take all of the data from here and go back to the doctor in Sarasota.

I have been informed by someone, whose opinion I value highly, that I run on too much about the weather. Well that is a fact, I suppose; however have mercy, when you get really old, what else is there to talk about?
The area of prime concern around here, is Barb's hip and back problem. All of the procedures is Florida didn't seem to help very much. So, in an effort to get some relief and not have to start all over with local medical personnel, she is trying acupuncture and some other procedures with a chiropractor. Some days the treatments tend to help some and others they don't. I think Barb plans to try to get relief through the summer and then go back to the doctors in Florida.

The weather has turned warm. Seems like God threw a switch and we went from cool and cold to hot and hotter. But we love it.
Still having problems with Barb's hip. She has seen three specialists, joint, surgeon and sports back specialist, and she still has no relief. She had another shot in her back about 2 weeks ago and it didn't seem to help any. We have another appointment Tuesday Mar 17, which I am sure is just a follow-up to see if the shot was effective and then they are going to tell her she has to have an operation.
We haven't been able to do very much because of her hip. She no longer can go to the grocery store or anything that requires walking or standing. If you are reading this, say a Prayer for her.

After all of that moaning and groaning, the weather turned fair and I have had an opportunity to ride the goldwing somed
George and Anita and Chandler came and spent a week with us. Unfortunately, we were unable to spend as much time with them as we would have liked to because of all of the Doctor's visits and that sort of thing.
Brenda and Harlan and Mike and Donna came by (that is pretty accurate too) They spent one night here in a motel and we went out to eat catfish and then they packed up and headed for the race at Daytona..
We are still fighting the battle of Barb's back/hip. We hope for an appointment Wednesday for the shot in her back that will hopefully fix her up. The Doctor called and said that he would make an appointment and have them call with it, but so far they haven't called and of course when I called them, I got voicemail. I don't think anyone answers the phone anymore.
Today is a laidback day with no plans nor intentions. We are just "Going with the flow".

Happy Valentine's Day to all of the beautiful and wonderful ladies in my life.
What would we talk about if we didn't have the weather? I will make this part brief. It is still cold and looks like it will be for the foreseeable future.
Barb's back/hip problem is much worse. She can no longer walk more than a few feet without severe pain. We have seen two Orthopedic doctors here and have an appointment Monday with another. Orthopedic surgeon and we think he will try another round of shots in her back. They say that there are several types of shots and they will try something different than the ones that she got in Cape this past summer.
We are expecting company today. George and Anita and Chandler too, are coming and will stay on our lot for a visit. Then Mike, Donna, Brenda, and Harlen are coming before or after the Daytona 500 race on the 22nd. Peg said, several days ago, that they were already in Tunica, on the way down.
I sold my bicycle, now that I don't have to go to the office every day, I wouldn't ride it very much. May have to sell my motorcycle if we don't get some fair weather so I an ride it.

Strange as it may seem, it gets cool in Florida. We would like for everyone to believe that it is 80 degrees, but it isn't. January is the coldest month of the year here and we are suffering. Just like the folks up North, We have to turn up the heat and wear warm clothes when we go outside. Why it was way down to 45 degrees this morning and will probably only get up to 70 degrees today. But we will suffer along for a while and things will get better.

Jingle Bells
It is time to take a moment for serious thought. Christmas is just around the corner and we need to take the time to reflect on what Christmas really is and what it means to all of us.
We have so much to be thankful for, family, friends, resources and of course good health. What a gift God has given us, and so many of us squander that gift and don't really appreciate it.
"Lord, help us understand and appreciate the gift that you give us at Christmas time."

Well, the fall weather has passed and we are now into the terrible days of winter....
The huge movie company came and went. The financial impact is still to be determined but you have to admit, they stirred up quite a bit of interest and we are all anxiously awaiting the release of ABBY GRACE. David tells us that it will be out in the spring. We learned that it takes a lot of work and much time to put together a 2 hour movie.. There is so much to do besides the actual filming.........................
We managed to skirt all of the movie work by going to Florida. David and his crew must have been looking the other way because we just got in the truck and left. When it got warm and there was lots of sunshine, we stopped.

As usually happens about this time of year, the temps are falling. 38 degrees this morning. That is how we know that it is time to go to Florida. But we can't just yet.
It seems that there is a huge movie company coming to Benton, MO to make a movie. The local merchants are excited about the millions of dollars that will be spent in our community, the natives are excited that they might get a roll as an extra and maybe even some of us will get to meet some of the stars of the movie.
We remember all of the hype from Gone Girl in Cape Girardeau and know that this will be even bigger in Benton. They just had the premier of Gone Girl in Cape and it was a really big deal. I am sure it will be as big a deal for this movie in Benton, (as soon as we build a movie theater).
David Dittlinger is the main man in this movie. He makes things happen and when he is rich and famous he will remember his Mom & Dad and our town and how we supported this movie.

Now it comes to pass that fall is upon us. We are having a few cool nights now and this weekend the highs are to be in their 70s. Makes me thing about going to Florida.......: )
We have had a real whirlwind summer, after going to Tom & Mary's wedding, we went back for the reception in Virginia, we went to Sevierville, TN with the Thompson clan in August.
Monday we rode the motorcycle to Sikeston and ate a pizza. Yesterday I picked all of the apples from our tree. There weren't many there but they still taste great.

Wow! What a whirlwind trip. We went to Williamsburg, Virginia Beach and Benton, MO in one week.
It is a very nice trip and we had a time to visit, a little bit. Sunday Bill cooked up a super dinner on the grill and we even had some fresh veggies that Mom brought. I suspect that there was also some brews consumed during the day.
It was a blast and we are happy to be home.

It is fun time in Virginia. Grandson Tom and his bride, Mary were married in April and had their reception yesterday here in Virginia Beach. Lots of family and friends showed up and we all had a wonderful time on the second floor of a nice restaurant overlooking the beach.
That was last night. Today Cindy and Bill had a really nice barbeque for about 20 folks, most of them from Missouri.
Barb has developed a problem with her knee and we are going to have to take her to the doctor tomorrow and see if we can get her some relief.

If you can just wait long enough, things will get better, or worse. Fortunately for me, things are getting better.
The weather has improved dramatically, the garden is growing, the grass is growing (oops, that should have gone into the negative column). I have been able to ride the motorcycle some and oh yes, I have a new truck. Obviously, things are truly getting better.

It seems as though we have been home for ever, or maybe never left, however, we are getting back into the swing and routine of things. We have the yard mowed, flower beds cleaned out and the garden planted. See? Just like we never left.
We are under that storm warning that goes for about 4 days. We dodged the bullet last night and only had lots of rain here, 2.8".
Today Barb has an appointment with the neurosurgeon to see what they can do about her back. We are hopeful.

Got those two married off and managed to eat way too much but we gotter' done and are headed home.
As hard as it is to believe, we left Pawleys Island with the temp in the 70s and by the time we got to Asheville, NC, it was 30 degrees and snowing with a wind that was blowing a bizzillion (that is a lot) miles an hour.
We have settled down in Crossville, TN, where we have held a couple of RV rallies. Nice town but it is going to be 25 degrees tonight and that makes it very unattractive.

Tom and Mary are obviously very much in love and ready for the next step which will happen tomorrow afternoon at 4:00PM on the beach near the water.

Would you look at the date? Our wonderful adventure in the sunny (?) south is coming to an end. It really seems as though the winter has just begun here. The weather hasn't been the most cooperative, but it has surely been a heck of a lot better than what most of the country has been suffering.
We are trying to decide when to leave here and what we are going to do on the way to South Carolina. I think we will take two days to make the trip. It is nearly 600 miles so we might as well take our time and enjoy the trip. The only down side is that we will have the motorcycle on a trailer and have to find places to park it if we go anywhere off of the beaten path. But it is an adventure and we will enjoy it, whatever we do.
Once we get old Tom married off, we will take a few days to meander home and then the real work will begin, I imagine.

It is hard to believe but we have a Granddaughter becoming a teenager this very day. It is difficult to understand how she can be getting older when her grandparents are not aging at all.
We are truly blessed to be in such wonderful weather. It was a little cool this morning, 45 degrees, but it is going to warm to 75 or so this afternoon and we are certainly enjoying it.
Sharon's time here is ending. She is heading home in the morning and I think she will miss the place. She has a very nice park model with a large patio with a roof and she is close to the club house and swimming pool so she misses little. Her friend Marilyn has been here for a week and she is going to drive home with Sharon.
We have to accept the fact that another year has almost come and gone, but it is true and we have to start thinking about going home and to Tom's wedding in April. It is too bad that you can't enjoy all of this retirement stuff while you are young and have the energy to expend enjoying yourself.

Golly Gee, how a few weeks can change things. Temps are in the 70s and 80s and we even see a fair amount of sunshine from time to time.
Barb is going to play poker this afternoon and see if she can make enough money to sustain us through the rough winter.
well maybe enough to carry us through the afternoon.
Life is good and we are enjoying every minute of it.

Seems like it is cold most of the time.. Just wait until about August and you will hear all about how terribly hot it is...........

Boy, the adventures just keep coming. This past week, it snowed, and then it snowed some more and then it snowed, did I mention that it snowed some 12 inches here in Benton, MO? We were snowed in and out and didn't leave the ranch till Sunday for Church. Greg came up and got the tractor and while he was at it, he plowed a lot of our back drive way too. Saturday, I got the tractor out and plowed the front driveway so that we could go to Church. Everything here is still ice and snow covered. The roads are still pretty bad, although most of the main roads seem to be in pretty good shape.
As for me, I have a serious case of cabin fever. what the heck am I going to do if I can't get out of this house and do something. I have fixed about everything around here, whether it needed fixing or not. I guess I could go out and shovel snow, but it is too COLD for that. I think I will just quit here and write Santa a nice long letter and let him know what I want for Christmas.

Another adventure to report on.
Steve and Nancy and Barb and I mounted our trusty Goldwings for a trip to Punta Gorta for a seafood dinner. Well it is about 65 miles down there to the coast and we made it with no problems and after a nice dinner, someone said, let's tour some of the old towns.
Of course, I would know where there was a nice place to go so I suggested Venice. Since we didn't have a paper map, my trusty cell phone and its map program came to the rescue. Heck, Venice is just across the bay from where we are, so we started up US 41 which, it appeared would take us right around the water and into Venice. After about 20 or 30 miles of city driving, we decided that someone in the group had made a grave error and that we should break it off and head for home. Of course I knew that if we got out to I-75 it would only be a short distance to Ellington. Just to cover all bases, I put the GPS on. As we hit the interstate Barb said that she didn't want to go far on it. I assured her that it was only a short distance to where we would get off. Stupid GPS said it was 29 miles. As you know, you can't trust these modern gadgets.
We found our exit (29 miles up the interstate) and made our way home. All in all it was a great adventure. Oh, did I mention, it was 65 miles down there and 125 miles home?
I doubt that they will ever let me lead a trip again. (Probably a good idea)

Well, we had an adventure today. Rode over to Lake Wales and it rained. And it rained. We managed to get under a roof at Camping world, and it rained. After waiting 30 or 45 minutes we decided to go anyway. Headed down the highway and less than 2 miles it had not rained a drop.
Well, it was an adventure anyway.

Good news, our oldest pup has come home to visit. David got in early this morning and is now catching up on his sleep. We are looking forward to a nice visit but really feel bad about him coming home to this cold weather. 40 degrees this morning.
We are going to cook up some ribs and beans today and show him how the other half lives.

If a month makes this much difference, what has happened to my world and how long did it take? Temp this morning 29 degrees.
After much thought and stewing, figuring and fretting, we came up with the ultimate (?) solution to the motorcycle garage problem. We got an 8 X 12, "haul it on a truck" shed and put it behind the motor home building. It is just the right size and works well. Now if I could just get some asphalt poured, it would all be perfect.
When winter rears its ugly head, my attitude begins to get rather ugly too. You can do very little outside and for a piddler like me, it is hard to find something to occupy my time. I did come up with a few days work that needed to be done in my shop. The plastic line to the toilet had leaked and rotted out some of the floor around the toilet. So I tore out the floor around the toilet and replaced it. repaired the leak and I have hated the cheap faucet in the sink for at least 30 years, so I put a new cheap one in and if it lasts another 30 years, I will probably will be through with it. Then I thought that as long as I had the toilet out, I might as well replace the vinyl. So after all of that and lots of fussing and cutting, it is like a new bathroom, well almost.
Now I just need another project...................

Wow, what a difference a month can make. Suddenly I am young and good looking, full of pee and vinegar.
After looking back at some of these posts, I think I should label this page "WEATHER REPORT"
Yeah right. But even though none of those descriptions is accurate, I am still a pretty wonderful guy!
The weather has turned a little bit cooler and that makes us anxious to get outside and get things done. Of course it also makes it more motorcycle riding a more desirable activity.
I am studying hard, trying to decide what to do about a place to park the motorcycle. We had discussed an enclosed trailer to be used as a garage and then a mobile garage for the trip to Florida, but we kinda passed on that one. Now we are considering a portable 8 X 10 building to put behind the BIG Ole motorhome building. Thought we might be able to hide it a little bit. What we really need on this property is another building. I have been trying to get someone to put some blacktop down in front of my shop so that I can move the goldwing easier. (It is dangerous to try to move it on loose gravel.) But it is an awfully small job compared to doing city streets so guess we will just have to wait. We did have a guy come by who wanted to trade asphalt paving for radios. He stated that if he put down 1/2 inch of chip-seal it would be equal to 4" of concrete. Right off we knew he was full of crap and sent him on his way.
Pretty soon we will be getting things from the yard put away and other loose potential flying objects stored.

As they always say about almost every place, "If you don't like the weather here, wait and hour and it will change". Good advice for Bentonians. The weather did change and it got cool, and we loved it. We have been able to do lots of things that we had put off because it was either too hot or to wet or some other weather related excuse. But now things have changed.
I was able to put new blades on the lawn mower, after having Howie put new tires on it and got the grass mowed. Boy was that a mess. The grass was so tall that it looked like we should have bailed it. But after several passes with the lawn sweeper, it looked pretty good. Now it is time to do it all over again. I am considering moving to a condo with NO lawn.
Barb and I took the Goldwing to the "Pie Safe", in Pocahontas, and had peach cobbler and ice cream. Then we just wandered the back roads home. Rode about 85 miles. Nice day, nice company, nice ride.
Today is still cool, 69, and we are just idling around inside until it warms a bit and then maybe we will go sit on the porch and wait until it "Cools off a little".

NEWS FLASH!
It rained this morning and the day before and the days before that. At the beginning of August we had about a 14 inch deficit in rainfall. Yesterday they said that we had pretty well made that up now. Boy, are we tired of the rain.
The sun was out this morning and we were able to walk and I thought maybe I could get Old Wing out of the shop and go for a ride. We ate lunch and the forecaster said we are going to have storms this afternoon.

Old Folks at Home
Aug 7, 2013
Time really flies when you are having fun. Us old folks have lots of fun.
Cindy came and we had a great visit with her. Think she rode everything ridable in Benton and near here, at least once. We really enjoyed her visit and it seemed like it was over, almost before it started.
We have joined a motorcycle group (Gold Wing Road Riders Association) and go to meetings in Jackson once a month. (mostly to eat) We have rides several times a month (mostly to eat). Most everyone in the group is like us, old folks trying to live life like young people. But it is a lot of fun. Sunday we went to Cobdin, IL for some of their famous Peach Cobbler and Ice Cream. We took back roads over there and the ride was beautiful. On the way back someone suggested that we should ride by Murphysboro Lake. Of course, being the followers that we are, we followed the group, down a gravel road where we had to turn around on the gravel and then back to the main road and down the next road where one of the guys tried to turn around in the road and dropped his bike. Finally we gave up on the trip to the lake and headed home. Some of the group went into Alto Pass to eat but since we had eaten lots already, we and a couple of others headed home.
Now the next big thing in our lives, I guess is Neighbor Day which is coming up in about 3 weeks. Boy time flies. When you get to be older, it seems like the shorter time you have left gets spent at an alarming rate. Life is good and we are enjoying it.

Darlin' Daughter Comin' for a Visit
June 25, 2013
We miss our youngins and look forward to seeing them whenever we can and it just seems like the time between visits is too long. Guess that means that we are getting old, or something.
Cindy is coming Friday and will stay for a week and we are thrilled for the opportunity to visit with her. (There are so many things that her Mother has not yet taught her.)
Greg and Diane are going to take us all out on the boat this weekend and that will be a very enjoyable time. ( We hope for all)

Sweet Thang turned loose again.
June 20, 2013
Yea Haw! We be cruisin' now. Me and Maw mounted our trusty steed and went to Wappapello Lake for a picnic. It was hotter than, well you know some of the references, but we braved it and sat high on a hill overlooking the lake and ate a sandwich and ate a chip.
Going over, they were paving highway 51 and there were long waits to get through the work area so we came back Route Z. That is a crazy twisty turnie, hilly road but it was fun.. We had a great time and got home in time to not miss anything.

We took Sweet Thang out to Marble Hill for lunch today.
Today is the first opportunity that we have had to go for a ride of any distance on our new Gold Wing. So....we went about 40 miles out to Marble Hill and ate some really good pork steaks at Jay's.
It was a pretty nice day with the temp about 75 and lots of sunshine. The food was good and the company was outstanding and we had a nice ride and a nice lunch.

Here it is, about the end of May and Memorial day. I have suffered from what the doctor says is the, "Southeast Missouri Crud". About the same thing that Barb had for 3 weeks in Florida. Of course there they called it the "Florida Crud." But I am doing better and able to ride the new bike a little here and there. It is a wonderful machine and I hope we have the opportunity to enjoy it quite a bit. Between the weather and my Crud, it has been hard to get anything done, fun or work. I have managed to mow the grass several times and fix the mower but that is about the extent of my activities. I did get to go for a ride today and rode about 40 miles. Sweet machine and I enjoyed it.

Well gosh darn! We obviously left Florida at least a month early. We had a couple of nice days but we are now paying for our earlier good fortune. May 3rd and it is 43 degrees and raining.
I didn't let my friends down. I had been looking for a Honda Goldwing motorcycle for several months and bingo, I found one. Went to Benton, IL and rode it in the rain and bought it. Came home, put the shadow on Craigslist and sold it a day or so later. I'll just have to put a picture of it here.
Ain't it pretty? It rides like a Cadillac or maybe better.

Well, would you look at this? It's Friday in sunny Florida (but the sun ain't shinin') and another wonderful winter is winding down. Our schedule is for Tuesday Oh Dark Thirty departure and ETA of Wednesday afternoon. Of course, we will have to check the weather and see if it is warm enough for our standards.
April 8,2013
Gosh,it has been nice to miss all of the cold, wet, nasty weather in Missouri.
We have had some really nice weather and some cold, wet weather, but overall, it beats the heck out of Missouri Weather. (89 degrees today)
We have had a few visitors this winter. David came for a weekend, Mike and Donna and Brenda and Harlen met us in Orlando and we enjoyed an nice, but short visit with them. Then some friends from our RVing days came and spent a week with us.
My activities a President of the homeowner's association has put a bit of a crimp in our activities. It seems like everyone here thinks that I am their DADDY and can solve all of the problems with a flip of the wrist and they never fail to ask for that miracle. Between the weather and my obligations, there has been very little time for motorcycle riding. I am hoping to rectify that when we get home
Current plans will have us at home on April 17, 2013.
Dec 16, 2012
Good old winter doesn't bring any surprises with it. You can expect cold, wet, nasty weather and she hasn't deviated from that theme. It gets cold, then it warms up and since everything has been super cold, everything sweats and sweats and the roads and porches and walkways are always wet and nasty.
Well, enough about the wonders of winter wonderland in Missouri. Inside, we are toasty and ready for whatever comes next and of course that is Christmas with the family. We are looking forward to seeing all of the kids, their spouses and most of the grand kids. Grandma has not been feeling real great so she has toned down a lot of the decorations this year. She has a hip that is giving her fits but doing a little better now that she is staying off of it some.
Dec 10, 2012
Something appears to be dreadfully wrong. The temp keeps falling and as hard as we try, we are unable to jack it back up to a respectable 80 degrees. Not to worry, I am certain that by January I will be able to report temps in the 80's.
The Christmas tree is up and many of the decorations that indicate that a very important day isn't very far off. Hard to believe that it is only 15 days till Christmas. Some of the kids and some of the grandkids will be here, actually most of them. David will come in on the 18th and leave again on the 23, Cindy and Bill will be here about the 22nd and Tom will get here when he can. We are looking forward to a joyful time with family.
Dec 1, 2012
Gee Whiz! Seems like we can't leave you folks to take care of everything up North where it is cold. Guess we will have to pack up in the morning and come straighten everything out up there.
As normal, we will be home for Christmas. We really hate to leave this nice warm weather but we really couldn't miss Christmas with all of our family.
Don't worry, we will take care of all of the problems of the cold North before we head back to the warm weather.
Oct 7, 2012
Well, it is official. The temp is down into the 30s and we ain't gonna' stand for it...... It is time for Ma and Me to pack up and head to sunny Florida. We are seriously counting the days till time to go. We still have some obligations here, with Doctors and some social obligations but by about the 30th we will be ready to roll.
I have placed an audio clip on Harrys Wright's page, check it out.

Just a bit of information for all of you naysayers out there, we got .2 inches of rain yesterday, so you see, it does rain in Benton, MO
Sept 19, 2012
Today was a great day, we got lots of things done that need doing prior to winter. We trimmed shrubs, power washed the motor home shed, bladed the drive way and ran into a gas company truck. I really didn't mean to run into the truck. He was in the ditch at the end of our driveway and I just took the tractor down to work on the drive way and there he was. I offered to pull him out and he accepted. Well......dumb old man shifted transfer case into 1st and it didn't go in all of the way and the tractor rolled down and dinged the back of his truck. But I pulled him out anyway and he said he just didn't know what the company would do about it. I told him that I wasn't sure about what I was going to do about the damage to the drive way.....Ain't life fun?
Sept 15, 2012
Holy Mackerel! Winter is coming on!
It is hard to believe that a week a or so ago, it was over 100 degrees and now it is turning cold. Well, we know how to fix that, anybody seen the Atlas? The weather really has been crazy, from over 100 degrees and now they are talking about frost, (whatever that is). But we appreciate every day, whatever the weather is. You have to start to feel that way when you are as old as we are.
We finally have all of the repairs to the house and out buildings completed, new roofs, new bay window in the house, new door on my shop and new roof on the machine shed too. While the guys were here we also had my shop sided so no more worries about painting and fixing up the outside
Now it is time to start planning for our trip to Florida. We have to expand our security camera network, insure that we will be able to monitor everything from Florida, then of course we have to get the booby traps all set so that the explosions will do minimal damage to the structure and maximum damage to the intruders. So much to do and so little time.
Aug 8, 2012
Today we are fixing the ravages of the hail storm. It has been a long time coming but work is finally in progress. Actually, we aren't doing the work, Mark Sander is doing it. Today is the third day on the roof of the house and it is supposed to rain and/or storm tomorrow. We certainly hope that he has the roof on by then. He is also going to do my shop and put in the bay window when it arrives. It seems like it takes forever to get anything done. However, the temp gets around 97 or 98 by about two in the afternoon and they have to quit. They are here on the job by 6:00 AM.
I have my new (to me) Honda Shadow decked out about the way I want it, new bigger windshield and trunk, but it has been too hot to ride it very much. Went to Chaffee yesterday afternoon and by the time I got back, I was drenched in sweat. So while it is too hot to ride, we will just sit back and look at the pretty machine. You too, can see it on the "My Stable" page of this website.
The garden is dead and we have had just enough rain to make the grass grow like heck. It needs mowing now but I am going to wait until the contractor gets all of his junk out of the way. That is, if the grass doesn't get TOO long first.
July 27, 2012
Back home again in Benton! Wonders of wonders, it rained last night. We got 1.9 inches and are thrilled to have it. It stormed in Cape while we were taking Sharon home. Winds in excess of 60 MPH and lots of much needed rain. It stormed some here but not too bad and then the rain settled in and it was a nice welcome soaking. They are predicting more for this afternoon. I think we can stand it.

Here we go again, off on a summer time vacation. I always wondered how you can take a vacation when you are retired? Every day is a vacation. But then we do like to spice it up a little now and then.
Mike and Donna, Ann (Donna's Mom), Joan, Peg, Carole, Ron, and Barb and I left the big city of Benton this morning and headed to Branson. We stopped for a BIG Breakfast in Van Buren and got to Branson about 2:30. Dinner was a pretty nice Bar-B-Que place and then we went to the Price is Right show. It was different. Now Barb and everyone but Ann and I have retreated to the other room to play cards. I don't expect to hear from Barb much before time to get up in the morning. That is a shame too, because we got the really nice BIG bed andbathroom with a Jacuzzi and enough room for another bed.
Unfortunately, part of our group was unable to be with us. Sharon had an appointment for some tests and Brenda really isn't doing too well in the health department and her and Harlen had to cancel.
I know, this isn't like reading a great novel, but after all it is just a journal that I would like to share with you.

Wow! 107 degrees yesterday, broke all records for the day and for always, I think. Going to be well over 100 degrees today. Oh well, if we didn't have the weather to gripe about, what would we do?
The weather sure does put a cramp in us old folks though. It is just too hot to do much of anything. I rode down to Morley on the motorcycle yesterday morning, before it got too hot, but the wind felt like you were in a blast furnace. Nothing for us to do except stay inside where it is cool.

Another great day in Benton, MO. Barb and I motorcycled to the River Ridge Winery for lunch. We managed to get there and back before it got too hot.
Sydney came up and her and Grandma made slaw from the cabbage that Sydney planted earlier this year. She was duly impressed, I think.
For the next week and the foreseeable future, the daytime temp is going to be over 100 degrees. Tomorrow is going to be 103.

Life is good!
We had a great Father's day at the lake with Greg, Diane, Kevin, Derek, Conner and David. Of course, as it seems required, we ate too much, drank too much and lazed around and enjoyed each other's company.
The heat is taking its toll on us and our yard and garden. The grass is the worst that I have ever seen it and the garden requires water every couple of days. We had a sprinkle yesterday but not enough to matter. So far, we are over 12 inches behind our average. However, all is not lost, Greg brought us two tomatoes from his patch last night and I'll bet we eat them tonight for supper.
I started a big bowl today and managed to put a gouge in it that I had to paste up. Hope it doesn't show up too much. This is the biggest bowl I have tried to make. It is designed to hold "HAPPY HOUR" goodies in the afternoon. Speaking of that, it looks like it is about that time and I really hate to miss happy hour.

Well, there we were safe and snug at our usual haunt, the basement messing with the computers, when Cindy called and asked if we were packed and ready to come to her house. Smart as I am, I assured her that we had our hotel reservations and that we would be leaving Wednesday morning and that there was no need to pack quite yet. Everything went down hill from there. Cindy informed me that we were due at her house on Wednesday evening and it would be hard to show up there after leaving home on Wednesday morning and spending a night on the road. So, Panic immediately set in and I started to change the hotel reservation and while on the phone, something hit the side of the house like a sledgehammer. Then another smack and another and soon it sounded like we were under attack. In fact, we were. Hail, larger than I have ever seen began pelting the house. The first thing to break was the tubular skylight dome on the roof. Water poured in while the rest of the house got a further bombardment from the heavens. Eventually it quit, as it had to. We mopped up the floor and put a cooler under the hole and waited for morning. Bright and early, Greg showed up and taped up the skylight for us so that it wouldn't leak anymore and we threw our bags in the car and headed for Virginia.
We had a great visit with Cindy, Bill, Joe, and Anna Claire; and we got to see Tom for a short visit. Of course we ate too much and sat around too much. Somewhere along the trip to their house, we picked up a rock on the windshield and the windshield proceeded to crack a little more everyday until we got home. (Got that replaced)
When we got home, we thought maybe we should have someone look at our roof to see if there was much hail damage. The adjusters came and they are going to replace our roof on the house, my shop and the repeater shed along with some compensation for the damage to the metal buildings.
Gosh, tomorrow is Father's day and we are going to Greg's boat for the day. David will be here this evening and we are all going to the boat to once again, eat and drink too much and enjoy family company.

Hard to believe, but here we are, home again in good old Benton, MO. We had a couple of nice warm days just to make us think we were still in Florida. But then the serious business took hold and the weather turned cold, and rainy, and nasty. But that was just to make us appreciate the wonderful winter that we had down South in sunny Florida. It was truly the best winter that we have had.
We are glad to be home and have a multitude of things to get taken care of, like yard, garden, water leaks, weed eaters and mowers and tillers and tractors that all need attention, like oil and filter changes along with lube. But that is what makes me young.
Of course we are embarking on Barb's latest wood working project. We'll see about that!

Well. here it is, Easter Sunday and we are down to our last week here at Paradise, or as we call it, Avion Palms Resort. It has been a great winter for us, the weather has been spectacular. We have enjoyed friends and acquaintances on a daily basis. As all good things must do, we have to make a choice on whether to stay here and endure terrible heat or head home and endure hard work and terrible heat. Seems like a no brainer, but we do miss home and our kids and grand kids and the friends back there.
If all goes well, one day next week we will take a ride on the scooter to Punta Gorta, about 70 miles South to the beach and Fisherman's wharf. Don't suppose we will eat any seafood there.

Had a great day today. Rode, with friends, to Cherry Pocket, a fish camp about 60 miles from here and had a great Grouper sandwich.
By the time we got home, we were both pretty well worn out, but it was fun.

It is with mixed emotions that we address our present position. Here we are enjoying paradise with friends. But we begin to see them leaving and activities are beginning to wind down. So it is a little sad to think that all of these winter fun and games are over for another year.
On the other hand, it is time to go back North to see all of our family and friends that we haven't seen for most of the winter. Then there is the garden and yard and the flowers and the maintenance on all of the equipment that is awaiting us.
We will just make the most of the time we have left here and then get home and make the most of the time there. I think we are going shopping Monday, Board meeting Tuesday and a trip to the beach on Wednesday.
Ashley will be getting married in Orlando this Friday so we will be there for that.

Wow! What a month we have had. Weather has been fantastic. Lots of sunshine and warm weather. That is what we can tolerate. It is hard to understand how we keep so busy when we have nothing that we have to do. But being the resourceful folks that we are, we do. We pick a lot of strawberries and we go for scooter rides and we go eat out pretty often. Happy hour is every afternoon at 4:00PM and we visit and exchange news of the exciting exploits of the day. Sometimes we do have things to report and we do.
That brings us up to today. Weather went South, or someplace. This morning it was 65 degrees with the wind from the North. Temp is now down into the 50s with the wind blowing like heck. But that is OK we are going to have to stay inside and get our taxes together and get them sent off.
Guess I should advertise the fact that there is no password on this page, but then maybe no one wants to see it.

It is a sad day for all of us.
Today they are burying Marilyn Steck, Scarlett's Mom and Conner's and Syndey's Grandma.
Marilyn died earlier in the week. We will all miss her.
Say a prayer for her and those she leaves behind.

What a beautiful day today, just like so many more that remind us of why we come to Florida. High today is going to be in the 80s with plenty of sunshine.
We are going to have a hot dog for lunch at the clubhouse and then go to Avon Park for a musical performance at the University. (Sounds like we are getting some class, but it is country music. Sorry all you liberals).
Jack and Fran Wamble came by to see us and we had a really nice visit with them, catching up on old times. We went to St. Petersburg the next day and had lunch with them and visited some more. They left for a 4 day cruise, the following day.

Here we are, into the new year and we are enjoying beautiful Florida weather where the sun shines most every day an really cold weather is about 35 degrees.

Can you believe, it snowed this morning. Yes, about 3 or 4 inches of the white stuff. Of course I was very confused and worried because I had almost forgotten what it was. The only thing I could think of that was cold and white was ice cream and it didn't taste like it. Most of it tasted OK except for the yellow. I thought that must be Lemon flavor, but it wasn't.
Well, since this snow thing didn't work out too well, we will be headed to Florida at first light. Then we will see who has the last laugh.

Gosh Darn! Just 3 more days until old Santa comes slipping down the chimney. I have been trying to hack his database so that I can appear to be the sweet, kind, loving little man that he should think of me as, but alas, too complicated for me.
But, other than that, things are going well for us. David came in and spent a couple of days with us and we enjoyed his visit, although it was too short. Cindy, Bill, Joe, Anna Clair, and Tom will be here tomorrow, Friday, and we have big things planned for Christmas day. That translates to eating a lot, I think.
Have you ever considered a pre-lighted Christmas Tree? Well don't. As we sit and watched ours, three, count them, sets of lights burned out. As you might guess, you cannot replace the right bulb in those miniature lights. They just die and you have to replace 350 bulbs one at a time until you find the right one. However, if you happen to be an Electronics Expert, there is an alternative that works well for us. You buy a new string of lights and wrap them around the tree, you can hardly tell it, well, except for the burned out bulbs.
Already it is 80 degrees in Florida and about 40 here in good old Missouri. I can hardly wait to get back to the warm weather.
A piece of news for those who are familiar with our house and grounds. The very large Oak tree that has stood at the corner of our driveway and was somewhere around 200 years old, finally has given up the ghost. I can hardly understand why. It got very old and was hollow way up its trunk and only slightly burned on the inside, but surely it could have stood for another 200 years, but after asking the City to cut it down, (I was really afraid that it would fall on someone or something and do some real damage). They did, except for about 30ft of trunk that they left standing.
Well, it is time for me to go get ready to head to Florida.
Merry Christmas!

Back Home Again in Indiana, no, Missouri
Actually we are home in Missouri for the Holidays, oops should have said Christmas. I wouldn't want anyone to think I was being Politically Correct.
We had a good trip and the weather was fine. Got colder as we came North but no problems, except for a little ice on the windshield this morning.
We are looking forward to fun with family and friends and lots to EAT.

Today was another nice day in Sunny Florida. The high was somewhere near 80 degrees.
Someone was supposed to come this morning to look at the Honda but they never showed, so while we waited, we cleaned some parts of the carpet and the throw rugs.
We went to Wendy's for lunch, see how many things we have to do? After lunch we took a ride on the scooter to check out our new Bluetooth intercom. Worked very well. We went out to the place where we pick strawberries and unfortunately they won't be ready for us to pick and bring home to all of the family.
We plan to go to the Casino on a bus trip on Wednesday and get ready to head home Thursday. We expect to be in Benton by Saturday.

Well they even have Turkey day in Florida. We went to Church this morning and I took a nice ride, abt 50 miles, on the scooter, exploring new roads.
Barb cooked two big dishes to take to the dinner here in the park and we ate and visited with friends here and had a nice time.
We didn't even walk, so we will have to walk faster tomorrow to make up for it.

You would think that warm weather lovers such as we are, would long be gone to the sunny South where we could bask in the sun and watch the world go by.
Well, actually we can and will. As the sun breaks over the horizon in the morning or as Rick likes to say at "O Dark Thirty" we will be well on the road to Florida. We have most things done in the house and are also pretty well caught up with securing everything outside. Most things that are worth stealing are locked up, security cameras are on high alert, scooter is loaded on the trailer and everything but the kitchen sink is in the explorer.
I am taking quite a few things left over from the motor home to try to sell when we have our yard sale in the park, in Feb or so. We made an agreement that we would not haul things back and forth. We have cut down so that everything can be hauled in the Malibu. But then I went and bought another scooter and it has to be hauled down this time. Guess I could have let Barb drive the car and I could have ridden the scooter but I think we will both enjoy the trip more this way.
Thanks for dropping by. I will try to keep posting on the happenings of our winter in Florida.
